So I've been a bit inactive lately due to school + a couple games I'm working on taking up all of my free time. I setup a borg on my roommates Brisbane X2 4800 while he's gone for the summer, and immediately got a project 3605. I recently started getting these on my Toledo 4800 as well. The general run down on points seems to be this:
Toledo 4800 @ 2.5: ~800 PPD --- could be a bit higher, but it's on my fileserver which gets some heavy use
Brisbane 4800 @ 2.5: ~700 PPD
Now, the difference between the two is 2x1024 cache on the Toledo running at 110W TDP (probly a touch higher w/ the 100 mhz overclock for comparison) and 2x512 on the Brisbane with 65W TDP.
This leaves me with:
Toledo 4800 @ 2.5: ~7.2 PpDpW
Brisbane 4800 @ 2.5: ~10.8 PpDpW
Now, I don't have to pay the power bill, so I don't really care about the price difference, but I did find the differences interesting enough to see what other people were getting. Since my quad is running dual VMs, I'm still happily cranking out 2605s with regularity and thus don't have any real comparison on the high end. Anyhoo, for those of you running any Windows SMP clients, what processors are you running, and what general PPD are you hitting on this project?
PS: Yes I don't pay the power bill, so if you need a home for another community boxen rig, I'm about to donate one of my computers to my mom's bed and breakfast, and will therefore have room for another box/space heater if you guys need a home for one.
