program to sniff out data from a network

Hi does anybody a similar programed of ettercaps that monitors data recieved and send on a home network for windows pc's? thanks

wel im working on some program that connects to a socket connection and sends and recieves data. i want to know how to read that data. etercaps does that well on my work pc but not in my home pc so i am looking for an alernative
