When is the next product cycle?

I am wondering when the 6800 series of graphics cards fall in price. I am to poor to buy a new one right now.

And i won't buy a budject card like the 6600gt.

prolly not for a while since there really havent been any rumblings from the nvidia camp

not till next year id say

Not sure, maybe the R520 will drop the prices? It will drop the prices of ATI High end though.

got a date for me? rough estimate? anything?

It's now, buy it now, 'cause it'll never, ever fall in price again :D

/sarcasm off

Seriously tho, the prices have already fallen, u can have 6800gt for $300, and it's as low as it will go for a year at least... I doubt r520 will further decrease prices since it rumored to debut at $700-800 mark...

ur right up there in canada where ATI is, u r evil as are all canadians with ur little beady eyes..... just kidding lol

and i had the opportunity to trade it for an athlon 64 3200+ clawhammer, an asus se deluxe mobo and 512 mb of kingston hyper x pc4000 ram and ended up building my best friend aka i call him my brother a pc, so i had to go with using an mx4000 since i have zero cash

Available for purchase in February.
People are always making jokes about ATi product availability and you are justified given their performance on the last cycle. I'm slightly more optimistic this time around because ATi is going to have to make a LOT of these for the XBox 2, so hopefully they will have the process figured out. If they can't produce enough, Microsoft won't be happy.

Which is exactly the opposite issue that MS had with NV on Xbox ;)

(yes, that's a joke for the over-sensitive types out there)

Microsoft doesn't want any of their hardware partners making more than a tiny profit from the chips because they want to be able to drop prices strategically to compete with whatever the other big two do.

I really do nope there will not be a major supply issue with the next line of ATi cards. I have never owned an ATI product and I would love to give one a try. I would have definitly bought an X800XT/X850XT over my 6800GT if they would have been more available 6 months ago.
