what exactly do processors do in gaming diffrent from doing tasks.

i get the same temps on my cpu running spybot as i do playin oblivion?
which is 53C

is there a diff?

The heaviest task the cpu does during most gaming is uncompressing textures and things like that.

Gaming per se, isn't really all that arduous on a proc. If you have a dual monitor setup, open up your task manager on the other screen and click the performance tab. Even during heavy gaming, you'll rarely see the cpu usage spike unless you're loading maps or entering a new area.

If you want to max out your proc usage, Try F@H or benchmarking. :)

Not completely ture... next generation games will stress the CPU a lot more then the previous generation. A perfect example is Supreme Commander beta pushes the limit on my core 2 duo, espically when you have 1k units running around shooting one another. Core 1# almost always gets upto the 90-100% range and core #2 gets up over 60%-100% depending on whats going on in SupCom.
