Alright guys, maybe you can help me figure this out...
I've been having trouble with my main PC for the last few hours. Specs in sig. I don't know if many would call it a problem, but it is bugging the heck out of me. I started noticing in my task manager that CPU usage is, for some reason, hovering around 3% at idle. It never used to do this. It was always at 0%. This came a few hours after I upgraded my drivers for my ATI video card to the recently released Catalyst 5.13 drivers, but I have ruled that out as a possibility because I found this problem persists even when I uninstalled the drivers and rolled back to the previous versions. I uninstalled the drivers completely and cleanly, so don't ask about that.
I also removed ALL ATI software on my system as well, just in case. It was about then that I noticed that every 5 seconds or so, a packet or two was being sent out onto my network.
So, naturally, believing spyware could be the cause, I ran my copy of Microsoft Antispyware, even though it had already done a clean run the previous night as scheduled with no problems. But it came up clean when I ran it this time too. So I downloaded a trial copy of TrojanHunter and had it run a scan, which also came up clean with no problems, except for the fact that the port that AIM uses is open. AIM routinely keeps its port open, and it was running at the time, so I doubt this could mean anything else. It didn't actually find any trojans on the system.
Finally, as a last resort, I set my attention on Steam. I ended its process, and no such luck. The problem continues. I then ended every single non-system-critical process on my machine, and the problem still continued. I could really use you guys' help because I have absolutely no freakin' clue what is going on, and that's usually not the case. Thanks.
