processor upgrade help

i have a asus striker extreme mobo 4gigs memory,and a GTX285 Graphics Card and my current processor is a Intel Core 2 E6700 socket LGA775

i have been away from the new stuff recently since this build and wanting to upgrade the processor
what would be a good choice to jump up too from the E6700?

The fastest CPU you can get for that motherboard is a QX6850, but it really isn't worth it. I personally think that if you really want an upgrade, you should go the whole nine yards and get an LGA1156 or LGA1366 setup instead. You'd have to replace your motherboard anyway to be able to give your PC a meaningful CPU upgrade.

Im in almost the same boat, but i have an e6750 instead of an e6700. I dont plan on going sli so im thinking of going with an i7 860. you can get a decent mobo cpu ram combo for around ~500
