Processor too weak for video card?

I was wondering if a P4 2.0ghz processor was too weak for an ATI X800 PRO? Would my peformance fall much, or should I upgrade. The processor, I believe, is 478 slot, so if it is too weak... anyone have any idea what processor I should get. I don't want to get too deep into this i.e. replacing mobo. But I do want to upgrade my crappy GeForce 3 ti 200. It was about mid-range in 2001, and in 03 it got 900 marks, and it can't even RUN '05!

Also, is 768 mb of ddr ram at offspeeds by different companies healthy for your computer, one is 256 ddr (i think 2100) and the other is by someother company (I don't know either of the company names) is 512 mb with i believe 2700. Should I just upgrade my RAM too? With same companies like with corsair or ocz or something? Thanks guys!
 
I'm pretty sure it could run it, probably not full capacity but you'll definitely see an enhance in gameplay.
 
If it were me, I would buy the video card, then spend what you have left on a faster processor and some quality value RAM of at least 512 megs. What kind of budget are you looking at?

well I'm trying to get the videocard for for free from pctech4free . c o m /default. a s p x ? r e f = 5 1 4 3 1 (REMOVE SPACES)
and the rest is roughly around 500$ tops for everything else. I might need to replace the PSU though if I upgrade processor and memory with the video card. (being that I believe I have a 250W PSU.) Should I also get a new psu too?

I was also considering buying a new HDD, but I don't have a clue on how to install it... well alone, I don't know if they have to be of the same type, i.e. does an Ultra ATA-100 work with an SCSI HDD? Plus, I have no idea what this Raid 0 or 1 configuration stuff is, and was wondering how you use it and install it! I am a newb, and would appreciate this help! Thank you all!

P.S. my current HDD is only 20gb! And I only have room for ONE MMOG (World of Warcraft) and two games with their expansions! (Warcraft III set, Starcraft set) The rest is being taken up by stepmania content, music files, and drivers and stuff!)

Well once you install an X800Pro, your games will be limited by your slower CPU and not the video card. All you need to do at that point to take full advantage of the card is to get a faster CPU.
