Processor temps too low? Is this possible?

Just curious about my temp readings. Mother Board Monitor 5 shows that my processor runs at about 28C idle and 38C under load. That can't be right can it?

Currently my CPU isn't overclocked.

Motherboard=Asus P4C800 Deluxe
CPU=Intel Pentium 4 3.0C SLW6K/D1 (HT Enabled)
CPU Cooling Fan=Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu (Direct connected to the system board to gain 300extra rpms.)
Thermal Compound=That cheezo crap the Zalman came with.

Just seems to be a little bit low. Wondering if it could possibly be correct. Everyone with a similar setup seems to have temps about 8-10 degrees hotter than mine.

I do keep my apartment cold. I keep it around 68-70 degrees most of the time. I know that accounts for some of it.

But the temps I get just seem really really low. However My temps did drop a good solid 7 degrees from switching from the stock fan to the Zalman.

then you just got one coooool running cpu

my asus reports bout the same temps when not clocked but mine is clocked right now so i stay at like 35 at idle

More than likey as that article pointed out, since Abit Intel and Asus all give varying temperature readings due to how they impliment their monitoring you should probably take the Intel board as the most accurate temp.

I would imagine that they would use the most accurate means of identifying the temperature. Since the are manufacturing the whole setup, board, proc, and chipset you would think and hope they would have the most accurate reading.

But who knows. They could be way off too. But if they were accurate plus or minus 1 or 2 degrees we would be able to add or subtract from other readings from other boards to figure out what it should likely be. So if your Abit board is 10+ degrees from Intel then you could subract 10 degrees to get your actual temp.

Or if Asus were proven to be 5 degrees under what they should be the same type of math would tell you what your really looking at.

Of course none of us are likely to find out what is accurate. Instead we should all just strive to get under the 40 or 50c mark if possible under load.

I'm using a D850EMV2L, and i reallllly think it's pretty wrong too.. cause my CPU temperature is about 3 degress C lower than my System temp.. uhh? so if that were true, it would mean that heat is going INTO the processor at both load and idle....

That's odd. Well who knows? I just strive to get my readings under 40C. Even if they are 10 degrees colder which I can't imagine then I'm doing ok.

I really wich there was an accurate way to get temps.

Abit is high for me. REALLY high. 46 C on IDLE and 58C on full load. wooooo...... specs below

I'll be getting a Prescott here soon, I'll let yall know what I come up with. I have a 7000alcu too.

asus motherboards read temps incorrectly, your real temp is probobly 5-8C higher than that.

same here man, when i was OCed to 3.4 my load was 60C, and i have a zalman 7000

from my experience abit boards, ic7 mainly, read 8-10C higher than actual.

My 3.0c on the Gigabyte 8KNXP is reporting in MBM5 as running around 33-34C and under load of running dual Prime95 its hitting around 50-51C after a few minutes.

I'm also using the stock Intel heatsink/fan with the thermal pad.

I switched to the Zalman fan, and I'll never go back to the stock fan.
