Here are my specs:
AMD ATHLON 2500+
768MB RAM (PC2700)
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128mb
Well, recently I decided to push my processor to its MAX because I was getting some stuttering problems in Half Life 2.
Anyways.....I set the FSB to 200 (to overclock it to a 3200+), and restarted my PC.
I checked, and indeed, it labeled my 2500+ as a 3200+ and I was happy..........at least until I started playing.
Ok.......I started the game, went walking around, and there was NO STUTTERING! Everything was going great, until the game suddenly FROZE ON ME.
I knew exactly what had happened - my PC had locked up because it could not handle the processor adjustment.........and I guess you could say that I was quite angry that I could not leave it like this.
So............after several attempts to start my PC (for some reason it was as if the video wasnt sending a signal to the monitor), I entered the BIOS and made the adjustments back to where they used to be. Now, everything is going great, BUT, I was wondering if there is ANYTHING possible that I could do to get it working correctly at 3200+ speeds.
I'm talking in terms of memory adjustments in the BIOS, like 1:1, etc.
Right now, I have it set to AUTO, but do you guys have any ideas of what I can set it on to possibly get it to work without freezing every time I try to play a game?
I'd appreciate any help, as running at 3200+ speeds is awesome!
