So I installed a "special" edition of XP onto my laptop and now the processor won't register right. Check it out:

It is supposed to run at 1.83ghz, but it shows as 997.8mhz.

Anybody know what is going on?

well plug it in! *it show that ur running on battery. Plus when its on battery it clocks down to save power.

OR

Check power settings in control planel > Power Options and then change power schemes to home/office Desk.

It is plugged in now and it is still the same. I will check the power options.

Also while it is on home office and plugged in everything is right. When it is on home office and not plugged in the goes back down. Anyway to keep it up?

Why worry about it? It goes back up instantly when it needs the extra power. My Athlon 4000+ switches from 1000Mhz to 2400MHz in less than a second when I start doing something. The Core 2's will do the same thing.

Ah. Alright. What would be a good program to test it just to make sure it goes up? Photoshop?

I know on mine just opening explorer makes it jump back up for a couple seconds. It doesn't take much to trigger it. Also playing videos in WMP does it too, but it stays for as long as the video is going instead of a couple seconds.
