Processor Fan Louder Than Usual

Here what happened.

I moved apartments last week and i was rushing. So i didn't take the time to shut down the computer properly. I just pulled the plug from the outlet.

When i set up my computer in the new apartment. The computer wouldn't even turn on. So i figured i blew the Power Supply. So I went and bought a new one. And it booted up fine.

The only problem is the Processor Fan is super noisy.

Before i broke it. It was really silent i could barley here the Fan.

What happened? Should i buy a new fan?

Check your temps with something like AIDA64 first. AMD's max temps are something like 60-70C, Intel can go up to 90-95C, I believe. Once you are sure you're not hitting some incredibly high temps, put your ear to the fan and see if the noise is truly coming from the fan. Unplug it and check to see if the noise stops. If you have another case fan, plug it into that spot and see how it responds.

If all that checks out and you're sure it's the fan making all the noise, replace it.

I used SpeedFan to check it. See the screenshot below, I think it says something is running hot.

But i dont have any applications running. And it shows the hot symbol.

I put my ear to the fan and its coming from there. I also unplugged the fan and started the computer and played around on it for a few minutes and it runs fine and it is very silent. So it is definitely the fan that is making noise.

I dont have any fan from another computer to test it.

So this means its the fan? but why would it be the fan. Isnt it the computer then makes the fan turn?

Your CMOS may have reset and left your CPU fan running at full speed.
But its very possible as pointed out that your CPU temp is too hot.

Download Realtemp and use that to check the CPU temp, this reads the correct sensors and applies the correct offset.
Check inside the case with your hand to see if anything else is hot.

CMOS. Does that mean the battery? I remember i took out the battery by mistake.

I downloaded Realtemp. Here is the screen shot. Everything seems normal.

If the fan is running at full speed. Is there a way to slow it down? The noise is really annoying. It so loud!

If you go into the CMOS setup, you can configure how the CPU fan works.
It is possibly set to run at max speed.

Although, if your fan is at full speed and your CPU is at idle, your CPU temp may be too high if you slow the fan down.
Your current CPU temp is too high considering the fan is at full speed.
This looks like it needs attention as well.

What CPU cooler are you using?
Is your CPU fan clean?
What case do you have?
Are your case fans clean and working properly?
Is the room hotter now or is the computer near a radiator or anything hot?

Update: Well everything is back to normal.

I ended up going into the bios and i went to the option " reset to factory defaults" i saved and exited and it

rebooted and now I can barely hear the fan. Problem Solved.

Lesson: Turn off the computer properly.
