I'm in the market for a laptop - prob. an Asus W2V (single core) or the A7J (dual core).
Let me tell you about my situation. I DO NOT do ANY GAMING AT ALL and i do not intend to. I mainly use my laptop for basic tasks such as web surfing ( a lot of it that is), play mp3s, watch movies, and use Limewire etc etc....Lets say hypothetically, i have Limewire running, watching a movie on a SEPARATE EXTERNAL MONITOR (when i get the laptop), listening to mp3 and web surfing all at the same time,...would it be considered as multi threading/tasking?? therefore benefiting from the dual core? or will i be just fine with a 2.16 pent. M single core??
Lets say the above is considered as multi threading, would i benefit from a dual core 1.7/1.8 along with 1g ram or will i be just fine with a pentium M 2.1 single core and 1g ram??
My comp right now has a pentium 4 2.0ghz and 1g ram. Everything runs just fine although i do experience some stalling/stuttering every ONCE IN A WHILE (everybody does anyway) but that usually means i am due for a fresh reboot.
My main concern is the external monitor....would i benefit from a dual core when i use an external monitor?? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated....
