I dont usually ask for help, but im all out of ideas. Here's my scenario:

I bought a refurb Asus A7V600-X from newegg. I bought some PC2100 ram and an AMD XP 2000+. Everything else i had from another rig. I start putting everything onto the MB and it starts up fine. After going into the BIOS, I made changes, nothing to the memory though, and reboot. Everything works fine but when i go to install WinXP the PC restarts and goes straight into BIOS and tells me something about the speed of the processor so i change it to 1667. I go and save and then restart and everything is good. But at the same point of the last problem it happens again and the BIOS reports the same.

Now the PC won't boot, itll just give me a lot of continuous beeps.

The RAM memory works, its on another PC and i ran Memtest on it, passed flawlessly. Before i go out and remove my processor to try it on the A7V600-X, is there anything else i can check?

Clear the cmos by changing the jumper next to the battery for about a minute or remove the battery for about 5 minutes. That should reset the bios back to factory defaults. Edit the boot order in the bios so you can load XP but Leave everything else as it is and try loading windows.

Thanks i tried that and nothing. Same continuous beeps. Im thinking it could be the Processor, but i dont want to take mine out from my PC and test it on this, especially since i have no more Thermal pads left.
 
check keyboard connection/try a different keyboard... sometimes its as simple as that...

Ima go ahead and try that. If that's what it is, im turning in my A+ and Network certifications in.
 
Ok that didn't work.

I tried 3 different keyboards, no go.

Should i just buy a cheap Duron and try that or do you guys recommend anything else?
 
Try another RAM slot? I doubt it's a CPU problem.

For that matter, make sure everything is plugged in SECURELY. It's possible that you're getting data corruption somewhere along the line, although a loose cable seems like it would be more intermittent than what you're describing.

Tried that already too. All i get is a continuous beep during start up. There's no output on the monitor at all (already tested that as well).
 
Check the manual for the motherboard for the beep codes listed in there. Constant beeping on some motherboards means no memory chip detected/installed. Are you certain the memory is setup for PC2100? PC2100=DDR266=133Mhz Also are you sure the memory is installed good?

Interestingly enough the manual mentions ZERO beep codes. I went online and found nothing as well. I only found that Award Bios's, continuous beeps means memory error. I tested the memory already on another PC and it worked flawlessly.
 
Well the board was refurbished for a reason. I'm guessing it was for that same problem. I'd see about getting a warranty repair or maybe a RMA if they allow that on reburb items.
 
I have a regular A7V600 mobo and it used to randomly give me constant beeps when i turned it on, i would have to reset it a couple times for it to stop and boot into windows. A simple bios update fixed the problem and ive never heard it beep continuously like that again.

I was thinking that updating the BIOS might solve the problem, but since i can't get into the system i can't do it. Is there anyway i can update the BIOS with the MB being in this state?

tell me the beeps

the beeps will tell you all about whats happening in the box.

Your board is borked. I'd say quit messing with it and RMA. Me? I would never, ever, ever ever ever ever ever EVER buy refurbished computer equipment. Yuk. Sorry to hear about your problem, but other than trying another CPU, I would take it back.
 
I RMA'd the board. Those continuous beeps were bothersome, since the RAM worked on other systems. Thanks everyone.
