Hello,

I have been having a problem with a computer i built and i found this forum and was hoping someone could give me some advice.

Specs of the computer:

EVGA p55 v Motherboard
i3 530 cpu
Eagle Technologies 500w PSU
EVGA GT 220 Graphic Card
4g of Ram
Windows 7 64bit OS

This computer is a friend of mine and he plays flight simulators all the time. Especially Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The computer was just put together so everything is brand new. While he is playing FSX the screen will lag and sometimes the computer will restart on him. HE has all the setting pretty low and still no luck. HE said one day his computer blue screened 6 times. What do you think could be the problem? Is his graphics card not good enough? I read somewhere that the quality of flight simulator x depends on the CPU and not the graphics card so would the i3 530 be enough to hand the flight simulator? I was also wondering if his power supply was to week that could be causing the lagging? Someone also mentioned the ram. What are the odds that it could be bad from the begining?

Thanks for the help

Check temperatures of processor and videocard, check memory with memtest and if possible try with another power supply.

the psu is suspect for sure. The system in general is low end for that program.

Ok, so i swapped out the power supply to a better one and i replaced the gt 220 with a gtx 260 so far there is much improvement but the flight simulators still hangs now and then on medium settings. I was wondering just how bad is the p55 v (e650) motherboard. I have heard bad reviews but could it be causing my problems. What motherboard would you suggest that is comparable to the p55 v (e650)

Thanks

I went from a Eagle Technologies 500w PSU to a ocz 600w modxstream-pro. The Eagle 500w didnt even have a pci power connector on it.

How "new" is the OCZ power supply? Older models (manufactured before 2008, I believe) couldn't really handle a card of the GTX 260's caliber.

Which monitor resolution is your friend using for FSX?
