Hello, I just got the ATI X1950XTX, and I tried to plug it up to my powersupply (Antec Truecontrol 550 Watt), and I noticed there aren't any 6 pin plugs to put it in, so I used the adapter for my old X800 pro, and all I got was artifacts on the screen and I couldn't see crap. Is there a solution to my problem that doesn't involve getting a new Powersupply? If so, which power supply do you recommend?
 
You'll need a new PSU.

The X1950XTX is a beast of a card and wants a lot of juice, and odds are if that Antec is old enough not to have any PCI-E connectors it's probably nearing the end of it's life anyway. Antecs have this tendency to kind of die a slow and painful death and the fact that yours can't put out enough power on a 4-pin molex to satisfy your X1950XTX probably means yours is headed south.
 
You should look at brands like Seasonic, Corsair, Silverstone, and FSP (Fortson/Sparkle) for the best quality and value. At the extreme low end of the pricing scale are units from Ultra which pack a lot of value for the price, but the quality isn't as good as the afore mentioned brands.

You may find that offerings from FSP will mett in the middle as far as price and quality/reliability are concerned.

Normally you would be, but Antecs can be funny like that. I would definately see about testing your X1950XTX in another rig if you can just to rule out a bad card. I bet it's the PSU though...
 
You may also want to try a different line off of your PSU, since the 12v rail you were initially using might be overloaded or something.
 
You may also want to try one of the 2 molex to 1 PCI-E adapters that are coming with some cards now.
 
Make sure your powersupply can do x>30A on the 12v combined. Check to see if the card isnt defective in another machine. But like the other said, if it doesnt have a 6pic PCI-E connector, then its probably old.
