Problems with this 5770

I switched out a 6870 to a 5770 for testing and seems like my 5770 cant handle mw2 even in 1280x1024. Its like im drowning in a pool of stutter. the FPS ranges from 100FPS down to 25-30 FPS in high detail/explosions.
 
I stated my problem, Im pretty sure 5770 can handle mw2 so what happened to my 5770?

1 more thing: Im using the 6870 driver with it, I dont think thats a problem since are both AMD
 
I just tested the lowest possible settings 640x480 and it still plays unsmooth. there has to be some problem here...
 
What I did was I uninstalled the driver and installed the driver it came with. its a little better but I still see some stutters, Ive never done CF but it looks like Micro stutters, I can play 1600x800 settings but its still unsmooth
 
Goto CCC and make sure you have all graphical overrides to "Use application settings"

It will cause a ton of issues. RadeonPro > CCC. uninstall it.

You need to do a clean uninstall of the drivers and install 11.8 from www.amd.com. I've seen this before. For some reason the registry still thinks you have a 6870.

You may have to use driver sweeper in safe mode

Download driver sweeper here

Uninstall the driver, reboot

Go into safe mode by tapping F8

Run driver sweeper and get rid of all traces of AMD

Reboot and then install 11.8 from www.amd.com
 
It's multi-gpu micro-stuttering. It's caused by the phantom gpu that you can't see in your rig. :D

more problem, I did what you said Lord_exodia but its still the same as before. Also, for some reason I cant open amd vision, its kinda weird. when I downloaded it it also said something about an error/warning

Hmm other than that I don't know what else you could try other than getting another spare hdd that you may have lying around and not be using and installing windows on that hard drive, installing the 11.8 drivers and trying to use the card. If it still performs poorly try it in another system or give it to a friend to try on their system. It starting to seem that the card is simply defective. Hopefully you have warranty on it.

I still have warranty on it but the RMA time is a pain. I tried installing the driver that came with the 5770 and that works a little bit better. I might just live with that
 
jesus christ why are problems coming to me. Now that I installed the old driver that came with the 5770 the displays went back to what it was before. My screen now has black borders(abount 1 inch) on the sides. there was an option on 11.7 to max the screen displays but this one doesnt have it... what do I do to put it back to normal?
 
Try this:

CCC -> My Digital Flat Panels -> Properties (Digital Flat Panel) -> Image Scaling -> "untick the check box"

If you have it enabled.

Or the CCC -> My Digital Flat Panels -> Scaling-Options -> "remove over/underscan", if enabled.

thats the thing that I do on 11.7, Im not sure which version I have now but this is what it looks like:

Try the tab labeled: Information Center. I presume you will be able to find the version number of Catalyst.

My CCC looks quite a bit different than yours. At the moment I am on 11.9rc, but you should be able to find those options on any newer CCC if I am not mistaken.

And what about the tab labeled: Display Options? It does not have the above mentioned options?
 
the display options was the first thing I looked at and it has nothing, it shows an option on "display detection" which says "detect whenever CCC is opened", "use manual detection only(I must click the Detect Displays button)"

have had the same exact problem when I had this driver, couldnt find that overscan/underscan option

Information center shows info of the graphics hardware/softwares

EDIT: what do you think about installing RadeonPro instead?

I had the same issues with my two 6950's. Sent them back for two GTX 570's. Best choice I made
 
Im not stupid... I already said I dont have that option with this CCC.
