problems with the new GPU

I am having problems.

I have had the GPU-2 running fine on a Q6600 system since early June. The video card is an 8800 GTS 320mb version. Running Vista 64-bit OS.

I downloaded the new GPU-2 client, installed, and I can't get it to run without an error message about the program encountering a serious error and it had to shut down.

I deleted the old GPU-2 folder and all of the files.

* Is there a way to determine where the program installs?

Once I get the GPU-2 folding I will attempt the new SMP install.

Do I need new video card drivers? The ones from middle June 2008 were running fine. I had to do some hack to get the drivers to work since I did not install a 260 or 280.

What is wrong?

The program installs in 2 directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\
C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu

Substitute in your name for David and that should be where you are looking to delete all files.

The other thing to do is a search on the computer as it has been reported that Vista can copy fahCore_11.exe to a other directories sometimes..

make sure they only exist in C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu
after your done installing!

If you had the systray version installed, you should uninstall it not just delete the files. There's probably some crap left in the registry thats conflicting with the new version.

How do you "uninstall" in Vista?

There is no "add/remove" that I can find.
