Problems with socket 939 and Zalman Cooler

I have an ASUS A8V MB (socket 939) and trying to use a Zalman cooler with it.

Problem I have is the Zalman cooler came with its own backplate for use with socket 939. My motherboard already has a backplate and bracket for a stock cooler. I can remove the bracket but that still leaves the backplate. I lightly tugged on the backplate but it does not move. I do not want to apply to much force and break the board.

I already tried mounting the Zalman directly to the stock backplate and bracket but that puts the cooler too high off the CPU and actually has alot of play.

Any ideas?

Use a hair dryer, it worked quite well for me on my A8V w/ 7000alcu

Ok I looked at the HSF again closer. It looks like you can move the retention bar in the Zalman to a higher level (by twisting it and sliding it up). At this level the HSF applies a bit of pressure to the CPU once tighten down on the STOCK backplate and bracket. Does this ssound right to you guys?

use the zalman plate, to remove the sticky backplate, take a nut driver and press down as you pull up on the board somewhere near it.
