Problems With Port Multiplier

I have a Media Sonic Pro Box. It's a 4 disk enclosure I intended to use for backup to three drives. It has no options for RAID or JBOD. It's just supposed to show how ever many drives you put in there.

Sadly, mine is only showing one. The activity lights just sit and flash on the other two. If you pull all the drives and try each one individually they all work. This leads me to believe it's an issue with port multiplication. I was under the impression that my Asus P8P67 LE supported that via the eSATA port on the back.

Is there a certain driver I need to install or a certain setting in the BIOS I need to change?

Make sure the port(s) that have eSATA connected to them are set to AHCI in the BIOS. Also make sure you have the drivers for your SATA controller installed in Windows.

I just barely bought this and the system is a new build.

I set all of the SATA ports to AHCI before even installing Windows. Also, all drivers are installed. However, I don't know if there's a different diver that I need. As far as I know the eSATA controller is a JMicron controller. But I don't see anything from JMicron listed in the device manager.

First, check to see if the drives show up with a USB connection.

Second, purchase a Port Multiplier aware eSATA controller. Its highly doubtful that the eSATA port on the motherboard will work, even if the mobo specs say its PM aware. The inexpensive Silicon Image SiI3132 and SiI3124 based controllers have always works for me. I have eight Mediasonic Pro boxes and they all work great.
