Hi there, i just activated an account on these forums, you have to excuse my english, i come originally from Norway.

I just bought a new computer with the following specs:

Gigabyte DS3 mobo with F7 bios
PC5300 Geil 667mhz ram 2x1GB
Intel core 2 duo E6300
Club3D x1900RX (GT)
Scythe Ninja Plus
AC cooling on x1900rx for better and more silent cooling.

I am pretty new to the overclocking business, but i read a couple of guides, and have done it with practically all my comps.

So far:

Overclocked my CPU to 2,6Ghz, running about 750mhz on the rams. I locked the PCI-e port on 100Mhz and set the ram on 2x of FSB.
After i clocked, i ran Orthos, 3DMark05 and then both on the same time, everthing seemed fine, played Gothic 3 about 4 hours, then i rebooted and surfed for about 5 mins, REBOOT :( it just got black without a bluescreen or something.

The ram should be able to go up as high as 900Mhz, but i am starting to think that they might be the problem and causing my unstability.
Would love some posts about this, i want so much to get my CPU above the 3Ghz mark.
PS: CPU temp @ 2,6 Ghz is about 44 load, so it shouldnt be overheating.

Have you try more voltage on everything ?
also put a 4cm fan on top of NB heatsink

Thanks for the reply, i have tried to put up the voltage on CPU to allmost 1,4. this was done without any success. I have a 80mm fan laying around i can try to mount that on NB and see if things get alittle better. I wanted to see how high i could get the E6300 before i touched the voltage, but it looks like i need to push it to 1,4 or similar to get the 3ghz mark i want.

You might not need that high Vcore to get to 3ghz.
Mine runs at 1.35625 @3300.

You might want to disable all unused feature in bios, then loosen the Dram timing, then try to crank up MCH, FSB and DIMM voltage by +0.1 at a time first with stock vcore and run test blend mode in orthos.

Then if it failed on small FFT you might need to give more vcore, just a little bit at a time.
If it failed on big FFT, try to give more on MCH FSB and DIMM.

Hi again, time for a update:

The wierdest thing happened to me, after i booted it up at 3Ghz and RAM on 858 mhz, PCI-e on Auto and disabled all the stuff i dont need in bios, all seemed well, until the first reboot. :(

I got really mad and i thought maybe go over and check if everything is attached ok, so i did and the power was still on, i pressed my 1200mm fan on my scythe Ninja a little back and the PC started!! tried to release it back to position and it went off, did the same again and the pc started again. Replaced the Scythe with the original cooler, and now everything seems fine.
Ran small FFT on Orthos 2x and 3DMark05 at the same time, everything seems fine, i get temps up to 59 or so, but as i understand the intel processors can handle that?
Didnt get any unstabillity problems the 30 mins i had my computer on before i had to get to work.

Now I'm not familiar with Scythe but you might not install the Scythe properly, or there's something at the back of the board or on the board that cause it to short when you tamper the Scythe. You can run just orthos, but make it blend test.

I ran it for 18hrs just to ensure it's stable. so if it failed at 4 you need to do somethng.
I know some might flame with stabilty testing and soem have also claimed they only test for 4 hrs and ther system run fine. Well I fold 24/7 and occasionally play games andrender video and it's rock stable.

Anyway, temp 59, what's the software for reading it, coretemp ? You can also use Intel TAT.

By the way, I also read some post to let PCI-e at auto, some claimed better stability.
