been using the SPDIF output on my friends Abit NF7 motherboard for a few weeks, having it hooked up to his stereo receiver. It worked great but recently the music will go out and even turn into hissing and stuff.

Not sure what is causing it. On the PC side the plug can be wiggled side to side a bit dont know if it has to do with the actuall plug connection or what.
 
It might be heat issues. Also nvidia has new sounddrivers up for Download. try those.
 
Seems to happen after using it for like 1/2 hour...so it could be something with heat but...heat where and its all find and cool back there.
