Problems with newer Catalyst drivers

Hi all, I've been having a constant problem with my desktop the past 3 weeks.

I didn't use my desktop for about 3 months, and before that, everything ran fine. I come back, and use my comp for a few hours, and then bam, I keep getting messages that ati2diag or something like that has suffered serious errors and VPU Recover has reset my video card.

I also get blue screen problems concerning ati2diag.dll.

So I updated to the latest catalyst drivers, 5.2, then 5.3, and now trying the latest Omega drivers. Every time, I don't face problems for a few days, but then the same thing happens again.

Another poster on this forum had the same problem and they uninstalled the i875 CPU -> AGP driver back to the PCI-PCI driver. I use an i875 chipset too, so I tried that and it seemed to fix it. But now I have the same problems.

I also dropped my CPU back to stock to see if that's the problem (nope, no difference)

Is my video card dying on me? Any suggestions?

Radeon 9600XT Stock

Run the CAT-Uninstaller to clear all ATI drivers completely, in case you have issues with files from multiple driver revisions conflicting. Install the latest CAT 5.3 drivers, and then uncheck the VPU Recover box, as it causes problems on some systems.. If you still have problems, check the fan on your ATI card to make sure it is operational and making good contact with the GPU. Keep tabs on your power supply as well.

Get the latest chipset drivers from developer.intel.com and try them out too.

i don't want to sound the alarm but when that happened to me it turned out to be that x850xt pe had died and i had to rma it. i hope its just a driver issue for you.
