Problems with my DP 930 SB, Help Please!

Everyone once in a while my NEC FP912 sb (exact same as DP 930) suddenly shrinks them image down to a small white line, i used to be able to tap it and it would fix it, now i either have to hit it really hard or turn it off for a while. I heard awhile ago about some procedure where you could stick a screwdriver in the left side of it to adjust the tube, would this help? Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
 
The holes on the left side are for focus adjustment, i doubt that would help but who knows. Weird problem you got there.
