Problems with MSI K8N Neo

Im currently having a few problems with a system im putting togather for someone. Im unsure if the motherboard itself is at fault or not, but i require alittle advice on it regardless.

The system is made up of a Sempron 3100+ (with the stock X2 heatsink on it), MSI K8N Neo Platinum, 1GB (2*512MB DDR400), Geforce 6600GT 128 AGP, Antec TruePower 430w and a few others things like HDDs and such.

Main problem i have is that when the system gets any power at all (turning the plug on) the system turns on without pressing the power button and pressing the power button does nothing, doesnt shut the system down or anything, ive tried turning the power button switch connector around to see if i connected it up the wrong way and no difference. When the system comes on all the fans power up, monitor stays in standby and there are no beeps at all. The system came with a bracket for USB that has LEDs on it that are suppost to tell you error codes, but theres nothing here which tells you what the colour combos mean, so i have no idea what the error code is if there is one (anyone have a list of those?).

Anyone got any ideas? I was thinking there could be a short making it turn on, but its screwed in fine and the other board didnt short in this case so im not so sure.

my k8n neo did that for a while once.. taking the cpu out and cleaning the socket well with a lot of canned air seemed to fix it

Make sure the speaker to the case is plugged in, that might be why you're not getting any beeps.

try running outside case, will eliminate short

The K8N Neo's must be haunted cause mine has done some wacky things. Drives randomly appear, sometimes it refuses to turn on. Most of the time resetting IDE cables fixed the problem.
