my mouse wont work. its that glowing one from xoxide, and every time i plug it in my computer freezes. same thing with my backlit keyboard, the backlite function freezes anything. i know the products are ok because ive used them on my older hp computer. im thinking it could be my motherboard, because it has some problems with onboard sensors already. anyone know if i can fix it? or is it completely non-motherboard related?
 
Are they USB? Some motherboards are known not to provide enough juice for power hungry USB devices, maybe something to look into.
 
yes. if they are USB, run them from a POWERED USB hub (the kind that has a transformer brick for it). Im lucky with one of mine, I have 4 devices on on e that is unpowered, but they are low drain devices -- ccd netcam, plain jane joypad, plain jane optical mouse, plain jane usb keyboard. I am sure that when I fire up the cam im near the 500ma max load that my comp's usb port can give out, because remember a self powered hub runs off of that power too... adds to total power used on that port.

when I put more then 2 things on that hub, I tried to locate the transformer for it to no avail :(
 
unfortunately, my mouse and keyboard are ps/2. could it still be an issue of power?
