Hello fellow Hard Forumites.

I don't normally post to the hard forums, because I don't normally have anything to say. However, I am now stumped with a problem that should be so simple I shouldn't need to post it here.

One of my buds had an ancient D-Link router that didn't want to recieve DHCP updates from his provider (Charter). No problem, I said -- just go grab a new linksys WRT54G turn on remote administration, and I'll set it up.

Well, long story short -- it works fine for about 5 minutes. At the end of the 5 minutes, only web traffic works. He can't play games online (Eve, Battlefield, Counterstrike, whatever), can't use IM, can't do anything but surf the web. And even that seems to work only every other request.

I had my bud take back the router twice, and all of them exhibit the same problem. I've disabled all the firewall settings, changed anything else I can think of, and no matter what it works fine for less than five minutes, and then bam, nothing again.

Please Hard Forum -- you're my only hope!
