problems with installing my 9500

I just installed my new ATI Radeon 9500 on my pc and everything seemed to be working until i went into my display properties>settings>advanced>adapter and saw that it wasn't listing anything. When i click on properties it shows some VGAsave crap. Also when i go to my Hardware profile, it recognizes the card correctly but the primary Radeon 9500 gets an error that says "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". (if your wondering about how i said primary Radeon 9500 it's because all Radeon cards have a primary and a secondary driver, one for normal use, and one for tv out) Also, When i'm viewing the VGAsave crap that i talked about earlier and i go to the Resources tab, under the Conflicting device list i see this:

Input/Output Range 03B0 - 03BB used by:
VIA CPU to AGP Controller
Input/Output Range 03C0 - 03DF used by:
VIA CPU to AGP Controller
Memory Range 000A0000 - 000BFFFF used by:
VIA CPU to AGP Controller

I have tried doing everything from disabling VGAsave, to reinstalling all of my drivers and nothing works. And yes, all my drivers for everything are up to date. :mad:
 
Hmmm.

First thing I would do is download Driver Cleaner 3 and install it. Uninstall your VIA Hyperian drivers and your ATI drivers, boot into safe mode, and run Driver Cleaner 3 and run the VIA driver cleaner option and the ATI options.

Reboot

Then go out to www.viaarena.com and get the newest VIA Hyperian driver and install it. (be sure you install the AGP driver)

Reboot

Do the same thing for the ATI drivers.

Reboot

See if it's working better now.

That's what I would do anyway.
 
Actually, the primary and secondary is for dual output ports via VGA and DVI ports on the card. Most likely what is happening is your bios settings are incorrect.

you either,

a. have your bios trying to recogonize a PCI card first.
b. have pallette snoop turned off

Do this, go into your bios, and where it says Bios resources controller by: Disabled <- switch that to Auto

that will auto reassign interrupt requests.(IRQs)

Also, make sure you install the GART driver by installing the new Hyperion drivers(chipset drivers)

Also, when you first installed windows, in your bios, do you have it set to APIC ?

If you dont have it set to APIC, your computer will be limited to I believe 15 IRQs..If you have APIC enabled, it'll go up to I believe 25-26 IRQs..Once windows is installed, if APIC Is disabled, you HAVE to reinstall windows for it to recogonize that and enable the other IRQs

thank you for your help but i don't have a place where it says "BIos resources controlled by"
APIC was Enabled

By the way, i'm runnign Pheonix technology BIOS v6.00 PG
 
Does anybody else have the same bios as me who can tell me how to turn off agp?
