Problems with E8500 on current mobos?

Hi all - I am looking at getting one of the new E8500 processors and am wondering about any issues I might run into such as the motherboard not recognising the CPU and being unable to post. I'm most likely going to get the Asus P5E3 mb or if I decided to stick to DDR2 I will get the Asus Maximus Formula. Would be great to hear from any folks that have had some experience with the cpu and your recommendations! Cheers

More than likely there is or soon will be a BIOS upgrade on the ASUS website for your mobo that supports the CPU. Do a quick search for your mobo and see. Good luck!
 
Generally its just a voltage issue, and current mobos with the P35 and X38 should be fine. They just might not recognize the chip, but should post and boot up fine. I'm in a similar predicament. I have the board (P5E-VM HDMI) and want to get the new chip but know I don't have the most recent bios. I hope more people have answers.
