Problems with computer...

Ive had a strange problem with my computer ever since I shipped it to college from home. Everything inside the computer turns on, all the parts seem to be working fine, but nothing comes on the screen, as if the video card is broken...but I just ordered a new video card so I have already ruled that out. I have also tried plugging it into different monitors, so thats not broken. And lastly I have put both harddrives into different computers and they work fine. Just wondering what the problem could possibly be...any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Do you get any beeps?

Have you made sure that everything is properly connected?

What power supply do you have?

what psu are you using? try booting with the bare minimum, remove all optical drives, one stick of ram, etc.

Look for something being loose, at worst, take it all apart and throw it back together.

Try it with jsut cpu, memory and video, see if it boots.

I have a Enermax Noisetaker 425W....when I recieved the computer the cable connecting the PSU to the motherboard was loose, but that was about it. Everything else seems to be connected. I'm going to try booting with the ram, vid card.

Im having sort of the same problem. I get 5 beeps at start up, no post or video. I just took everything out just in case the mobo was shorting, and only use the bare minimums to try to figure out whats wrong. Also if you have some extra parts try to swap them in and see if that helps.

Could be the mobo.....

My landlord's PC did exactly the same thing about a month or two back. He had a P4P800-Deluxe and was running 3 monitors from a standard PCi slot graphics card.

I had an old mobo (P4P800-MX or P4S800-MX, I can't remember which) that I had bought as a cheap mobo for one of my older systems without realising that it had no AGP slot (The main reason that I now research 110% every single thing PC related I buy now) and could never be bothered sending back to the supplier. I thought that I would be stuck with it till the end of time, but getting back to the point I put it in my landlord's PC that didn't require either an AGP or PCi-E slot and it resolved his issue and he had Video again.

I originally bought the mobo for about £45 and he was so pleased that his PC was working again that he bought it off me for £70 despite the fact that I told him how much I had paid for it and that I'd have taken whatever I could get.

Moral of the story: Never throw your old components because you never know :D

First thing to do before throwing money at is is to reseat everything. Take it apart and rebuilt it. If there was a loose screw it could have crammed itself behind the motherboard and be shorting out.

Most likely is RAM or CPU though. Take the RAM out and reseat it. Same with the processor. I would just go through and remove everything and put it back together.

What he means is to just take it out then put it back in. Reseat not reset. It just might not be in there properly, and it could solve your problem.

Thanks to all for your suggestions...my computer is currently up and running. All I had to do was take out a stick of ram and put it back in. Kinda funny.
