problems with cathodes?!?!?!

I have a problem with the cathode lights on my fans. They will stay bright and then dim way down after about 2 minutes after the computer is on. Could it be a loose wire on my splice job or could it be not enough power from my 400 watt power supply?

Depending on what your system specs are it might be your power supply

Oh okay. Are the light and the fan wired together? What I am thinking is maybe the fans get throttled down by some program once windows loads and that would also reduce the voltage to the light. If they are wired seperately then I'm not sure what is going on.

They're wired seperately since the cathodes need an inverter.

Does anything happen to your computer two minutes after you start it? Otherwise, maybe there isn't enough current from the PSU (load, heat, anything). I'm thinking its not your splice job. Did you make them yourself?

They're wired seperately since the cathodes need an inverter.

No they are not wired seperately... The cathode is wired in with the fan. (I had one.) So they probably are being throttled down..

EDIT: Well, atleast my cathode fan is wired together... I dont know about other brands, i bought some knock-off one... so...

my specs are: amd athlon xp 2200+, 2 80gb western digital hard drives, 400 watt power supply, radeon 9800 pro, dvd rom, dvd burner, soundblaster audigy 2zs, 2 half gig sticks of ram, cooler master fan control. i spliced them myself and the lights on the fans dim down the fans themself dont bog down.

There's your problem
If you spliced the actual HF cables from the inverter to the CCFL, that's probably the problem. Often people come here complaining about trying to lengthen their CCFL wires only to find that the CCFL dims. Keep the original wires and the original wire lengths and lengthen the PSU wires to the inverter.
