 Hi people, I really hope somebody can give me some advice here.

I freshly installed XP and the 'puter froze at the point where the windows XP logo is showing but no little thingies are running from left to right under the wording.

So I do a boot using safe mode. No problem there. If I then reboot into full mode by using RESTART, no problem, (I can do it over and over without problems)

But if I use shutdown from the safe mode, it will shut down ok. Then I restart into full mode and it works. But only twice. After the second complete shutdown it freezes at startup again and wont boot until I use safe mode.

It is hard to pinpoint a potential error because it does actually boot into full mode a couple of times from cold start. (and as many times as I like from restart)

Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

It is an AMD duron CPU 650
Gforce 3 200 grafix card
256 meg SD ram
(I have done complete mem test successfully)
(I have left side off box to omit heat as an issue)

I cant think of what to do next except I d'loaded a bios update for the m'board but it only wants to save as an AVG update file!!!

YIKES!!!!
