first of all, no flames. i like the game, you may not, keep your opinion out of this thread.

im having lots of problems with battlefield vietnam. I can only play it on low video settings. if i go any higher it gets choppy. why? any ideas? see my sig for specs.

its none of these. i turned off all of them (well, i never actually turned AA and AF on) and its still the same.

im quite sure that this is a bfv problem only because i can play the farcray demo on high grphics and it is not choppy.

under the troubleshoot tab for ati options, uncheck 'enable write combining'
try that.

I've been reading quite a few BFV forums lately, and it seems that there is some sort of issue with nforce mobos and this game. Not everyone with an nforce board has the problem, but it definitely seems like an issue. I'm not sure why that would matter, maybe it's a problem with the sound card?

I'm having the same problem as you, here's my system specs
Shuttle SN45G (NF2 Ultra 400)
AXP 2400+
BFG 5900
1GB RAM
MCP-T for sound

It doesn't matter what settings I use, the game is always choppy. My system should be plenty fast enough, but even at 640x480x32 with everthing set to low, no shadow, no lightmaps, no AA, no AF, I'm only seeing fps in the 70-80 range when not moving, and they down in the 50s when playing. I can crank the res up to 1280x960, no AA/AF set everything to high, enable shadows and lightmaps, and the fps drop to around 40-50 when not moving, and in the 20s when playing. I disabled the sound, and that didn't affect frame rates at all.

It's only this game, everything else I have runs fine at 1280x960 or 1280x1024. Far Cry works fine at 1280x960, or 1024x768 with AA/AF, and it looks about 100 times better than BFV. I'm gonna give UT2004 a try tonight and see how that works.

And yes, I've tried every single setting I could think of for the video card, and I've got all the latest drivers.

I wonder when people will get the clue that there are already 1500 threads about this same exact problem?
