Problems OC'ing my 5850

I got my 5850 a few days ago running Catalyst 10.2 and I have noticed a problem whenever I overclock even a little bit. I am using icronic's guide to overclocking. I was running a 4890 with 9.12 with zero crashes or problems before hand.

His guide is very good however, When I overclock to even just around 750/1050 I am getting constant driver crash and recoveries in 3d apps like 3dmark Vantage, Furmark, BBC2: Beta, and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Is this probably due to the grey screen crashes I have been reading about or could I just have a bad 5850? I would really like to oc this beast because I have read it can preform at 5870 levels with a little tweaking.

I am running the system in my sig.
