am i leaving information out that is critical to solving this problem? any seggestions im in a serious bind and would love to fix this problem.

could be many problems. It just freezes? no error message on reboot? Well, either way, try memtesting the RAM, cpu reading program to see if it's overheating, get a mobo program to see if that's running fine. Perhaps some HDD software and write the the drive to zeros. It may be that the drive is corrupted, and a low level format is definitely not going to fix the problem. Heck, try using another drive as the boot drive and see if that solves anything.

Good luck
