Problems installing Directx 9.0c

I have problems installing directx 9.0c. Midway through the install, i would receive the following message :

"The software you're installing has not passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with windows xp........ This softwre will not be installed. Contact your system administrator."

And then a msg "installation failed" will appear. Can anyone pls enlighten me as to what is happening here and why can't I install/update directx 9.0c? Any help is greatly appreciated.....

FYI, I am using windows XP pro, service pack 1 and gpu is radeon 9700 non pro.

Install Service Pack 2 and it automatically comes with DX 9.0c.
