I'm using CDex to rip/encode my cd's and it fails to load the ASPI drivers every time. Using the native SCSI/NT library is very slow. I just updated the ASPI drivers - installed something from adaptec and now it doesn't work at all.

If I try and play an audio CD, windows media player comes up and says "connecting..." and does nothing.

So what am I doing wrong here...

I thought there was no need for ASPI drivers at all but CDex fails to load them and must use the native scsi nt library every time. I visited the FAQ on the CDex website which contained some info and a ASPIfix reg file which did nothing.

It should not take 10+ minutes to rip and encode a CD with a 40x drive.

*edit

Thanks for the link czar, has some good info.

ForceASPI is what you need.

I've done this, CDex still wont detect the ASPI drivers. I tried switching to EAC and that wont even detect my CDROM.

Aspichk.exe says ASPI is installed properly (ver 4.60 from forceASPI) so I don't understand wtf the problem is. Could a windows service that was disabled cause this?
