Okay so today I got my new 3.0GHZ 800FSB processor, and new motherboard and case. I installed the mobo and put all my old components in the case, etc. The computer was put together fine, and then I booted up and went to format my drive. So I load the install on my next bootup, and I tell windows I want to install. Typically this is where all of the installation files PREload, where windows installation says it is loading files. I get an error that says files are missing, and it attempts to copy them from a location. First I thought it was my hard drive, so i took an old hard drive that worked, put it in, and it didnt work again. So i went to COMPUSA and bought a new hard drive. Still got the problem. Now I went from installing XP pro, to installing XP home, and got the same error. I even went as far as to use windows 2000 instead of XP, and I get the same problem every time. any damn ideas?

Yes it is formating then it goes to where its about to install windows and it preloads the files.

the problem occurs during hte preload when it says it cant locate files and attempts to copy them from another location, on several different formats, it has worked sometimes, then it doesnt work other times, then i always get blue screen of death.

Try using the install tools that came with your brand new drive to diag and then format.

Try putting XP on then. If not, I honestly don't know.

Luck

Wait, you know what, is your cd-rom drive reading ok? Do you it to be working well?

Start by making sure you can run the drive manfuacturer's diagnostic software without error.

If that passes, see what an overnight run of Memtest86+ yields.

I'm betting you find the issue here.....

Good luck - B.B.S.

Edit - I read you post again. Google up delpart.exe and blow away every partion on that drive. Try again....
