Problem with X800XL AGP, HELP!!!!

I have this weird issue with my card, its a relatively new Gecube model. Thing is, I get artifacts and tearing in some games and little yellow dots all over ATItool, This is at stock speed.

What makes this weird, is that if I reinstall the Catalyst drivers, it goes away for a day or so, anyone have any idea whats wrong? I thought bad card, but its fine with the reinstall, I'm just tired of having to do it when I wanna play a game.

Gigabyte NF2-400 MB (GA7N-400L I think)
Barton 2500+
1GB crucial DDR400
win XP home SP2
Ultra X2 550w Power supply

Do you use Driver Cleaner when you install new drivers?
Are your chipset drivers and BIOS up to date as well?

if you get artifacts it's most likely your cooling or you need rma

My GeCube X800XL runs perfectly in Far cry, HL2, COD2, and Oblivion. Make sure you have loaded the latest nVIDA GART/ chipset drivers and reinsall DX 9.0C after that as well and it might solve the issue. Worth a try.

Yea, it certainly sounds like a cooling issue. Make sure you case is cool enough also, or all your VGA cooler will do is pull in hot air.

Its an chenming aluminum full tower, has two iintake and two exhaust fans, card doesn't get anywhere much over 38C, keeps pretty low system temps. I will try driver cleaner, and the Nvidia updates as well. Thanks for the advice guys!

Looks to have worked, nforce ref drivers (like the soundcard manager too, I promise not to complain bout nvidia for a while), f11 bios, and looks to be smooth sailing again.

lmao. I actually missed that too, but your call was right on. I too have seen this issue more than one time with Nforce chipsets - it won' act right if you installall a new card unless you reinstall chipset drivers sometimes, and DX.
