Problem with wireless mouse

Not sure if this is the right category, but my wireless mouse has been having quite a few problems recently.

It seems to "spaz" every now and then (usually about every 10 seconds, and this lasts for about 1-10 seconds), so like its refresh rate drops to 1 Hz and what would normally travel across the screen only travels a few centimeters at best. The buttons on it don't seem to respond very well either, at times.

This started occurring probably a week ago, and I think it's gotten worse over time. It's most likely a software/driver issue, I think. It works fine on another computer.Wired mice, my trackpoint and touchpad all work fine.

The mouse is the VX revolution.

could be drivers.. could also be the batteries dying or if its a rechargable mouse then the batteries could be going bad.. id try moving the receiver for the mouse into other usb ports.. see if that helps..

I've tried all the usb ports, and new batteries. Neither solved the issue.

I think it might be a usb issue as well, though. My external usb sound card occasionally messes up and crackles - i'm told this is because the CPU diverts power/processing away from it when it's not in use, even though i have power management settings disabled.

do you have any usb jacks on the front of the case? if so try using one of those since they are connected to a different usb header on the motherboard..

Should have probably mentioned i'm running this off of my laptop w/ a dock. But anyway. It doesn't work with the usb jacks in either the laptop itself or the dock.

The mouse has worked fine for 2-3 years, and i've been using it on this laptop for well over 4 or 5 months. I feel like it's most likely a software or driver issue, but I have no idea why.

hmm.. yeah then id look and see if there are different drivers for it.. see if that helps.. or it could just be that the receivers going bad..

looks like there are some newish drivers.. from 7/7/09..

if you get the newer drivers make sure you get the new setpoint drivers as well..

Thanks.

Just tried, the problem still persists, though.

-edit-

My computer just disconnected all the usb devices, without warning, if that helps at all. I think this may moreso be a problem with my usb devices than my mice's drivers.

Any idea on what messes up the usb jacks?
