This KVM is driving me nuts.

Its the TK-205i KVM by Trendware.

Its solid, on video and keyboard.. but mousing sucks.

I have a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse set.

On my Win98 PC, the mouse recognizes and runs fine. Scrollwheel, 3rd button and thumb button all work.

However on the XP machine none of those features EVER work.

it worked just fine before the KVM, and it does not matter if I put the XP PC on PC1 or PC2 cable, it still has the same problem.

and its driving me nuts, because XP machine is my game rig and I need the scroll wheel working.

does anyone know what I can do?

Thanks :)

the KVM puts out a very basic mouse emulation. Usually the mouse only works correctly with the system that booted up connected to the mouse. When you switch the KVM, it goes back to basic mouse emulation.

Its possible the newer USB KVMs don't have this problem, but I don't have one, so I'm not certain.

I just bought a crappy mouse to connect to the KVM, and I plugged in my good mouse into my gaming rig using USB.

The problem is only on the one computer tho, on the other it always accepts the settings of the mouse even if I switch between the two computers.

The order of boot-up dosn't matter either, XP always forgets the mouse is a Mouseman Wheel mouse after I switch between PCs, but the 98 Machine never forgets and all features always work.

Is it just something to do with XP?

I have the same issue with my Belkin two port KVM. If you switch to the other PC and then switch back, the refresh rate is all fucked up. YES I SET THE REFRESH RATE ON BOTH PC'S TO THE SAME. KVM's have issues and I was not aware of them before I bought one. It could be just this model, but it seems that others do too. And I don't want to use USB just for a keyboard, thats just not neccessary, not everything has to be USB.

" That product does not support wireless mice "

They say, defying the laws of common sense.

I retort in a state of dumbfouded ness from their previous mail

" Then isn't that something that should be written on the box so people won't buy a piece of crap that won't work? "

I eagerly await their reply.

Not to bump up an old thread.

But I never did get a reply from them, despite my repeated emails and even one atempt to call.
