This HSF uses push-pin mechanic to mount onto the mainboard. But it requires you to tighten a piece of steel to the bracket (the 2nd one from the left,2nd line) to hold the HSF in place. So when i was tightening the screw, one of the push pins just snapped and flew out of the mainboard.Since there was no pin to replace,i continued.I knew there'd be problem with CPU-HSF contact so i immediately tried to stress the CPU to find any abnormal in CPU temp. It's a E6400 65nm CPU,idle @25 degrees Celsius and fullload @41 degrees, ambient temp was around 22 degrees. That means it still has good contact.
So my question is,should i worry about the missing pin?I haven't checked with my retailer to make sure whether this voided the warranty or not.I'm not sure if they accept the return of an unit with a broken pin.So please give me some advices :D
