Problem with subscribed thread notification

Just a small, annoying problem that somebody should probably try and fix on here.

The links provided in the auto-notification emails when a reply is made to a topic you have subscribed to do not seem to work. The link in the email starts with "http://www.hardforum.com" but this site only seems to be accessible via "http://hardforum.com" (or is my ISP just screwed up?) Either the DNS need to be updated to accept the former, or the link in teh email to point to the latter.

http://www.hardforum.com works fine for me.

Try typing in a command prompt

ipconfig /flushdns

See if that works, also try clearing your cache and cookies.
 
I didn't know that there was a command to flush the DNS cache. Anyway, that didn't change anything.

I just tried disabling my firewall (Norton IS 2003) though, and now the URL is working with the www in it. Seems to be kind of an odd thing for Norton to be doing though.

Thxs neway, at least I know that the problem resides in my system now.
 
The Norton firewall is teh devil. I've had to uninstall a bunch of them within the last year for friends who bought production machines which it came pre-installed. Tried reconfiguring, but as Microsoft used to say "some things will just not work with this software" The firewall that comes with XPSP2 is as good as any, ZA freebie works well and CA's freebie is a clone of ZA....anything but Norton......it's the only one I've had problems with. :)
