problem with starting up comp for first time..

just finished a build and put it together, went to start it up for the first time, all fans ran for 2 seconds then crashed, does this everytime i try to turn it on. the front lights dont turn on and theres no beeps. what could be the prob?

athlon 64 3000+
gigabyte idna geforce
powerman 460w active pfc
512mb corsair xms
sony cdrw
2 antec 120mm case fans
 
got to have more details.what motherboard.have you tryed clearing cmos,is the board shorted to the case,will it run outside the case with only ram and video card installed.is the cpu fan plugged into the cpu fan header on the motherboard.its possible one of the standoffs is shorting.take the motherboard out of the csae and hook it all up on a table with only 1 stick of ram and the video card ,mouse and keyboard only.see if it will boot into bios.you need to start here and work up from this point.
