Problem with SLI on two 8800 GTs

Alright folks, it's been awhile since I posted here but i'm running out of ideas on this.

It seems lots of people have issues with no SLI option under Nvidia Control panel, well i'm having the same issue but have tried everything I have been able to find via searching forums and the internet.

The system is:
Core i5 2500k
ASRock P67 Pro3 SE board
8gb Corsair Vengeance ram
2 EVGA 8800 GT superclocks (both 512mb)

I installed windows fresh on this system with both cards but had no sli bridge installed and also installed the drivers with no SLI bridge. I was waiting to get the bridge from my brother and got impatient lol.

This board uses a Atheros NIC so no realtek issues.

I've reinstalled drivers numerous times including installing windows drivers and then completely wiping any nvidia ones out before reinstalling the latest nvidia drivers.

I still have no SLI option, I even swapped the video card and reflashed the firmware using the same firmware to both cards. Still nothing.

The only thing I haven't done yet is completely reinstall windows and everything, but i'm trying to avoid that.

Anybody got an idea of where to head next?
 
when you go into the SLI/physX config tab in the drivers what options does it give you to select from?
 
2 things first off, is the SLI bridge connected now? And what slots on the MB do you have the cards in?
 
Yes, I have a SLI bridge installed.

This board only has 2 PCI-E slots a 16x and 4x. For what it's worth my brother built the exact same machine except with ATI 6850's in crossfire and his works without a problem.

I updated the bios on the board and also reinstalled windows anyway and still no dice. I've used both cards individually for heavy gaming sessions and they both work perfectly on their own.

Try updating the bios and getting the latest chipset drivers. If possible use a different bridge.

Maybe, I have another but it's a hard PCB type and won't fit, i'll have to order another online.

The one i'm using is a MSI branded one but that shouldn't matter as far as I know.

ASRock doesn't mention SLI support but I was under the impression they can really only advertise one or the other correct?

Did both of those, the Intel drivers are the latest.

Looks like my only option at this point might be to try a different SLI bridge.
 
Looks like this ASRock P67 board may just not support SLI. I was always under the impression it didn't really matter but evidently that's not the case.

I emailed ASRock and I bet they come back and tell me it won't work.

After reading up on the board it does not offer SLI support. And no, you are not correct on that, they can advertise whatever the board supports. There are many boards that offer support for either CFX and SLI. There are a number of boards that will support both, but they almost always list the support.

This is where they would list support for SLI, which they do not.

Edit: Wrong version, looked up just the Pro, not the SE, apparently they made a few changes to the SE, but did not include SLI support, only CFX. Fixed with the appropriate links and information.

Yep, this is what i've come to also. I haven't built a new pc in a long time and for some reason I thought I read that they could do both, but looks like they have to put a chip on the board for SLI support.

Oh well, guess it's time to get rid of the 8800 GTs and upgrade, probably to a single Nvidia card, i've always had a bad taste in my mouth from ATI in the past.
