Problem with Resolution and 81.84 drivers

I have a 9100 with 7800 GTX and Dell 2005FPW... I installed the new drivers (81.84) using the driver cleaner method but i can not change the resolution to 1680 1050. I added a custom resoultion but it does not look as good as the resolution i experienced with the Dell 7800 GTX drivers. Can anyone help?
 
Let's run through the process one more time to make sure you got it right (driver installation):
1. Add/Remove programs>Uninstall nVidia displaywhatvere
2. Restart and boot into safe mode
3. Run driver cleaner making sure all nVidia fiels are removed>try running cab cleaner for safe measure
4. Restart> Cancel all windows crap and install drivers yourself
5. Restart

You did that (basically) and still ran into problems?
 
Trying using a whql driver then. Checking otu those drivers I notice they're beta and you must consider some instability with a product that may not have meant to be released. Or in this case, meant for black and white 2.
