We have a shared folder on the server in which scans made on the networked copier are placed. Once a scan is complete, we go in and edit the folder names as LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME.

However, we keep getting this error when trying to edit the folder names or delete folders after scanning:

folderuse.jpg

I disabled Indexing for that folder as I thought maybe that is what was causing to be "in use". Unfortunately, the problem persists.

I have noticed that inserting a comma into the folder name always triggers this dialog box, but renaming to just a last name does not.

Also, it appears we can rename the folders normally after several minutes have passed. We need to be able to rename them right away, though.

Any ideas are appreciated.

make sure the anti-virus is closed first. and see the task manager. Also you could change it temporarly from being shared and then rename. and who the hell is john smith?

you can also go in to Computer Management -> Shared Folders -> Open Files
see if something is actually holding the file open; then you can kill the session in Sessions.
