Problem with RAID and windows

I have (2) Samsung 160GB SATA drives in a RAID1 array using a DFI motherboard.

The board's bios raid utility says the array is configured and everything is running smoothly, but when I boot into windows 2003 server it doesnt see the array under the "disk management"

Do I need to install some drivers or something for windows to see the array? This is my first dip into SATA raid and I thought this stuff was all just supposed to work just like IDE does.

It works more like SCSI does.
Some times it will work without extra drivers and so times not.

Your mobo should have come with a floppy and/or a cd which has the SATA drivers on.
Just install them and you should be good to go.

When I tried out Windows 2003 server, I couldn't get it to recognize my IDE raid. I only spent about 2 days on it and went back to Win2k. There's gotta be a driver or something that'll get it to work though.
 
Everytime a new OS comes out there's always a fair amount of lag for drivers, unless you own a Mac or proprietary RISC/UNIX machine.
 
I'm assuming the RAID array is not holding the system volume. In that case, you may still have to load the drivers. Go to the motherboard's website and download them.
