Ok so I am putting together my computer. I have done this tons of times but before I start going through isolating the problem.if I got everything plugged in correctly. Jumpers checked and everything. I try to power it on and well nothing happens. The front LED does come on when I switch the PSU on. But the PSU isn't doing anything. Most likely in your experiences would this be the PSU or the Motherboard just being dead?

try turning on the PSU w/o mobo. Short green to black. Test your voltages.

Make sure you didn't forget any molex connectors on motherboard, video card, etc...

How would you even know if a PSU is doing anything? :p

Is the system fans running? Does your case have a onboard speaker attached? I cannot stress how helpful it is for troubleshooting purposes.

Standoffs might be the issue here too.

Well I tested the PSU on my current comp and it works fine. I am thinking it is the board. Nothing works when you press the power switch.THere could be some confusion since the board supports SSI PSUs but I followed the manual and plugged it in the right way.

Sometimes the power panel might be confusing. Make sure you put the case power connector to the right pins.

Do the fans spin for a split second and die?

is the old system that the powersupply works on an XP based processor? And would the new one be an A64?

I had that problem with an older 550w antec p/s, and have run into a few posts were others have as well. Buying a new antec resolved it.

Funny-- I just realized this: You never listed your specifications. :p

Sorry. But Aaron that is almost exactly the problem. Except the fans never even spin. THe computer that it works on is an Athlon XP.

Specs
MSI K8T Master2
AMD Opteron 148
The PSU is a 600W one umm not really a big brand though. I don't know what it is.
