hi guys!
okay heres my problem i got a HD 4770 about 5 mnths bak to play crysis on mid setting and gta also . Now dont get me wrong its an amzing card and its bang for da buck but i have a problem in overclocking btw i have an OCZ MODXSTREAM 400w PSU which according do my previous posts on other sites should handle a hd 4850 which consumes much more power than the 4770 so after i overclock with rivatuner and play crysis i notice that my fps drops more than increases it drops at about 5 fps which is annoying even though i overclock it and then if i overclock it more it goes into a blank screen n i have to reebot @ default the clock on CCC are at max which are 830 for GPU n 850 for memory ive seen people oc upto 950 and 1000 respectively so i just wanted to know whats wrong ???

what are your temps? my guess is that the cards overheating if you are using the automatic fan speed setting..

Dude, sentences require periods. Overclocking isn't a guarantee on any card. Could be you just reached your max oc on that particular card.

couple of things, first, flash the card with the Asus Top bios, then use CCC to overclock, you will get better results, plus the upper limits are increased to 1000core, 1200 mems in CCC, much more than what ATI gives with the stock bios....I did this with my XFX HD4770's, I modified the fan spinup in the bin file before the reflash so the fans reach 100% @65*c (this way you do not have to futz with the fan at all, it becomes automatic, less to worry about when going gaming), the stock bios doesn't ramp up to 100% until 95*c (ouch!)....the Top bios also tickles the volts up a bit, which helps with the clockage...

I can get 950/1100 with my better card, 860/1100 with my lessor performing card....I run them @850/1025 just to be on the safe side gaming.....

Also, despite what you may say, that 400 watt OCZ PS still could be a problem as the rest of the system has to be taken into account.....

So, time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.....I figured it out on my own with a little net searching to help with the details....it really is pretty easy to do....

good luck....

laterzzzzz.................

Well i have a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo (conroe core) and a single 4770and 2 gigs of ddr2 i dont think anything else hogs much power n my pci slot is empty.....according to powersupply calculators i need 300 w so... i dont think its much of a problem also my max temp while playing crysis all on enthusiast @ DX9 1440x900 is 67 degrees and im using the fan @ 80%

What are you using for voltage control?

What brand and model of HD4770?

its a sapphire hd 4770 with stock cooler and i just installed CCC drivers nothing else no asus top bios etc....cause i dono how :(

Sapphire makes 2 different models of the HD4770.

One of them uses a blue pcb and the other uses a red pcb.

The red pcb is over clock friendly. The blue pcb isn't over clock friendly.

If you have the red one try MSI afterburner to see if you can control the clocks and the voltage. Carefully increasing the voltage will help the card perform better when over clocked.

The red Sapphire card can be flashed to a Asus TOP HD4770. If done the card will increase in over clocking ability.

I would love to help but your punctuation and sentence structure (lack of?) is making my head hurt.

DAMN dude i have the blue PCB.So ur saying its more difficult to overclock it?...So is there any hope left at all?...but akwardly from sapphires site i have the one with 2 DVI AND 1 TV OUT.But according to the sites pictures the one i mentioned has a red PCB wheareas the one i have is identical to it except it has a blue PCB & HAS THE COOLER OF THE FIRST 1 !!!.This is what i mean mine looks just like this 1 http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?psn=0001&pid=276 but has the ports like this 1 http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?psn=0001&pid=251 but the bottom line it has a BLUE PCB!

First I have heard about that one. Not sure how that one over clocks.
Did you try MSI Afterburner on it? See if voltage and clocks are adjustable.

well i tried MSI Afterburner and the voltage is adjustable but akwardly the clocks (both) wont go above the CCC limit this suxxxxxx
