Hey everyone, first off Im not sure that this is an overclock problem or a hard drive problem, Im putting it in this forum since it was the very last this I was doing prior to the incedent... So yesterday I was overclocking my system using clockgen application http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php
I was testing how high I can go with it still being stable, and I got my cpu clocked to around 2.1 Ghz with freeze ups or crashes. (This is with my Athalon XP 2500+, my Corsair 512 MB 3200C2PT Ram, and my Mobo is a Abit NF7-S Ver 2.0)
I started to get the clock around 2.13-2.14 not sure where exactly and my system froze up. So I restarted my comp and I was gonna set my somewhere between 2.05-2.1 But when I got to my screen prior to the windows login page my comp restarted it self. And the advanced starup screen appeared this time. So I went to the most recent settings that worked, and again my comp restarted it self. This time I tried to start up in safe mode, and again it restarted prior to the login screen. Now I started to get a little worried. I went into my bios and loaded the fail-safe settings, and tried to start that way, and again same problem of restarting prior to windows login screen.
So what Im wondering is this a problem that resulted in my overclocking, or is there something wrong with my HD where it wont boot up properly?
Should I clear my CMOS and try again? thats all I can think of at the moment that I havent tried yet.
Any help is Greatly appreciated.
